The Parliament Building, also known as the Palace of Westminster (The Palace of Westminster) is a place where the deliberations of the House of Commons and the House of Lords are held. It is one of the most recognizable historic building in London. Historic, neo-gothic palace in London, Great Britain. In 1987 inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Knut Wielki started its construction in 1016. Westminster lies on the north bank of the river, to the west of the City. It’s the political centre of the United Kingdom- the home of the British Parliament. The nation’s leaders and the men and women who represent the British people meet and debate in the two Houses of Parliament- The House of Commons and The House of Lords. Next to Parliament is Westminster Abbey. Almost every coronation has happened here since William the Conqueror. It consists of three wings. The most important rooms are located in the central pivot. In the middle is the Central Lobby, on both sides of it, the Lords Chamber and the Commons Chamber are located at the same distance. And above Parliament rises London’s famous clock tower-  Elizabeth Tower, also known as Big Ben. It’s four white faces look north, south, east and west. But Big Ben isn’t really the name of the clock. It’s the name of the bell inside the clock. In the opposite part of the palace stands the Victoria Tower, whose top at the height of 98.5 meters is the highest point of the complex.

On the picture we can see beautiful building with numerous decorations. There are also two towers, one higher and one shorter, both of them have sharp tips. This higher tower is Big Ben (in reality, this is the name of bell, not all construction). Buidling in the foreground is Houses of Parlament. A lot of people call it The Palace of Westminster, it's meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
His construction began Cnut The Great in 1016 (king of England from 1016 to 1035). In fact the origins of this building are in 1097, Westminster Hall was built at that time.
After the fire in 1834, most of the palace was rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style.

The palace is located on the left bank of the Thames.

Big Ben has got 96 meters and he was built in the same style as all facility. Foundation of Big Ben has got 3 meters. The hour tip measures 2.7 meters and a minute 4.3 meters.

In 1987 the Houses of Parliament was included on UNESCO.

Houses of Parliament - also known as The Palace of Westminister is situate near the river Thames. Parliamentwas created with two houses:

-The Lords

-The Commons

After the fire in 1834 a competition was organised to create a new building for the houses. And someone built it (I know the names and dates, but I don't want it to be boring). The whole complex was created in new-gothic style and incorporated surviving fire. It includes the Clock Tower, Victoria Tower, House of Commons, House of Lords, Westminister Hall nad the Lobbies.

Interesting informations:

-The Commons Chamber was destroyed in the World War II. However it has been rebuilt in the same neo-gothic style.

-Westminister Hall is one of Europe largest unsupported medieval halls.

-In front of the palace is located the original ashtray from XVII century.

-Chairs in the House of Commons are painted in teh same color as Westminister Bridge.

Maybe that isn't really suprising, but:

-In the House of Lords all chairs are red and in the House of Commons - green.

Okay, let's get back to more interesting informations:

-Entry to The House of Commons is forbidden for teh Queen.

-Swearin in the Westminister Hall? Forget! It is FORBIDDEN. For a large part of politicians it's really hard to discuss without a reprimand.

-If anyone would die in the palace, he would have to be buried with all honors (for example like queen), of course the Country pays...

-Bureaucracy rules! There is printed approximately 80 million sheets of paper per year.

In a 1512 it used to be a seat of monarch.

The Parliament of the United kingdom is a current owner.

It's in UK.

Building has three wings:

-The most important rooms are in the point/central part - Lords Chamber

-There's also Víctor Towera

-And Elizabeth Tower, (Big Ben) in a north end

This place was added on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987.

The biggest danger for this building is possibillity for occurrence of a fire.

On October 16th 1834 the Palace of Westminster has been a place of a great fire. It was a result of carelessly burning two tally sticks (used to take notes) in a furnace under the House of Lords. The fire went through a chimney causing the whole building to catch on fire. Because of the way in wich it started, the Prime Minister called it "one of the greatest instances of stupidity upon record". Although it was pretty big and destroyed most of the building, it didn't cause any casualties.

The fire was portrayed by a famous English painter J.W. Turner. On the left side of the picture we can see a white bridge and on the right a huge blaze gutting the Houses of Lords and Commons. It's currently displayed in Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The photo presents "Royal obserwatory greenwich" In london. The obserwatory lies on the border of the equator. I was there when I was with a school trip to london. I was delighted of this building. Dispite that this building is absolutly important its ver beautifull.

The building has red brick walls and a dark roof. It make prettier that this obserwatory is surrounded with many kinds of plants.

I think it was foggy on the photo becouse the sky isn't blue but dark. Its a typical weather of London.

I like this place and I cant wait to Come there anither time.😊
